bugs tha remix

well, the reality of living in nyc struck last night, when my roommate found herself face to face with a cockroach the size of a small dog while washing her face in our bathroom. she screamed bloody murder and called a couch-crashing friend to stomp the creepy crawly thing to death. minutes later, that same couch-sleeping friend spotted another, equally large insect crawling on another wall in the bathroom.

thankfully, i was not there to witness this event. yet it seemed faintly reminiscent of the early days from my first apartment, before the thing came completely overrun with the six-legged suckers. maybe i should be more worried than i am, but i have a feeling this was just a fluke coincidence. this apartment building is no roach heaven like the old president st. joint. its clean, and generally well-kept, if a little old and in need of repair. sure, we have lots of holes leading god knows where in every nook and cranny of every room, but an exterminator comes to spray once a month. how bad could it be?

well, the truth of the matter is the exterminator comes at midday on mondays, and my roommate and i are never around to let him into our apartment to spray. i thought that the fact that he was spraying the rest of the apartment would keep the buggies at bay, but yesterday's sighting and brutal killing proves me wrong. so now we'll be making an effort to keep our apartment clean and tidy, setting up roach traps for extra large bugs, and leeting in the exterminator as often as possible.

and keeping our eyes open for potential drop-ins while we shower.
