not enough hours in the day

first of all, i may or may not have to work late today. and i have a headache. and i'm not quite feeling myself. it must be monday. oh why must mondays be closing days? (magazine terminology...maybe some clarification TK)

i'm currently fact checking an article. it makes me very nervous. they say you can lose your job if you let a mistake get published and then someone catches it and then sues, etc etc. while they don't give me any of the controversial things to check, i do get stuck with some pretty tricky stuff. thats probably one cause of my headache.

another cause has got to be this endless calling of realtors. today i postponed my appointment with nice new york broker to wednesday, due to possible late working. i also got a call about seeing an apartment in a town called sleepy hollow which is in north westhchester i think. if its not in westchester than its in the county above that, not sure where the lines are exactly. that woman was really weird on the phone, almost like she didn't want me to have the apartment. she gave me to option of seeing it today or tomorrow, but i obviously couldn't do today. when i told her tomorrow was better she was taken aback and said she would have to call me back to confirm. honestly, if this doesn't work out, i won't cry too hard.

i also did some additional searching for greenwich apartments (in between calls to my fact checking contacts of course). one broker told me their fees are 10% annual rent. AND you have to pay a $25 application fee before even seeing any apartments that they list. are you kidding me? i'm looking in manhattan to escape the fees and there's more (although less) in greenwich!? i don't dig that. she also didn't have many listings in my price range. one was close to the station, sounded great actually. the second was near the old greenwich station, and it doesn't have a stove. no way.

i also spoke to a nice broker who had one listing near 95. he was honest, told me it was loud and i wouldn't be able to relax in it. but he told me to check back weekly with him, in case something opens up.

lastly, i called a woman who was renting out a one bed attached to her house in greenwich. she wanted me to come look at it asap, but since i have to work late today, maybe see this apartment in sleepy hollow tuesday, meet nice ny broker wednesday, and go to court thursday (another story for another time) my days are limited. i don't know how i feel about living in a person's house, but kate's doing it and loving it and her apartment is really cute so who knows. i can't pass up anything. i told her i would come by tuesday night, and if this sleepy hollow thing doesn't fall through i'll call her and try to reschedule for the weekend.

oh, also left a message for a westchester broker. hopefully he'll call me back sometime this week and i can set up an appointment for the weekend. now i'm wary about calling brokers because they want you to come in RIGHT AWAY and i just can't.

there's not enough hours in the day.
