the luckiest girl in all the land
a lot has happened in the 48 hours since my last post. let me fill you in...
on the speeding ticket/court front:
you may know that i was pulled over for speeding on my way home from boston on july 4th weekend. i was caught with a laser going 80 in a 65, just as i crossed the connecticut border. the fine was $260. i decided to plead not guilty and fight it. yesterday was my court date in rockville, ct.
i took the day off and headed up there for my appointed time at 9:30. i was really nervous as i sat in the courtroom with a million other people, waiting my turn to talk to one of the three prosecutors sitting at the front of the room. i finally got called around 11 a.m. in about five minutes, the very nice lady listened to my side of the story and bumped my ticket down to a written warning. no fine. no points. no record. no insurance hike. no stupid defensive driving class (again). it was totally worth taking the day off from work, and its the best possible outcome.
my advice to future speeders: even though it is intimidating, always fight it!
on the apartment front:
well, due to circumstances beyond my control i didn't end up meeting with the manhattan broker wednesday afternoon. i still haven't seen the pelham apartment yet, but tomorrow promises lots of apartment hunting goodies. i'm going to check out the pelham digs, meet up with a mount vernon broker, and drive through other towns to check out the train station-adjacent neighborhoods.
and in other news:
i'm heading out to hoboken tonight with work friend tory. i'm planning on staying the night at her one bed (so jealous) and catching the train to pelham in the morning. it promises to be very fun...
the weekend's here!!!
