why me
just take one look outside at the gray and rainy weather and i bet you can guess i've had a pretty crappy morning. last night i gorged myself on italian food with the family, and felt really full and awful all night. i didn't sleep very well last night and was kind of out of it as i entered the subway station this morning.
if you don't travel on the nyc subway as often as i do, you may not know that sometimes there are 2 or 3 nypd in the subway stops, with a little white plastic table, searching people's bags for bombs. i've long thought that this was a good use of their time, if they are actually searching suspect bags and people. but i've never really seen them searching anyone who i would think looks shady. that being the case, i knew it was only a matter of time before i would be asked to stop and be searched. i just have good luck like that.
well this morning was my day. i was carrying my hadley pollet small canvas purse and a birthday gift in a very obvious birthday gift bag. i happened to look over at the cops while i fumbled through my purse for my metrocard, and one of them asked me to come over so they could search my bag. i was ok with it, and put my purse on the table. they didn't touch it or even look inside. they asked me about the birthday gift. i told them. they flirted with me. really? this is exactly what i need on a monday morning when i'm running late and tired and in a bad mood. i wonder how much tax payer money is spent on having three cops just hang around a subway stop all morning checking little white girl's purses for explosives.
