things i loved this week
well i promised some new features around the old blog and here goes numero uno:
things i loved this week
by amanda
jan. 7 through jan. 11
in this (hopefully) weekly feature, i will expound on a few lovely things that i enjoyed immensely this week. do with them what you will.
dunkin donuts milky way hot chocolate
so i know i'm supposed to be "dieting" and all, you know, trying to reach lifetime on ww and shed the few extra holiday pounds i packed on in the past few weeks, but i couldn't resist trying dd's new hot chocolate flavor. i have to say, dd hot chocolate is one of my biggest wintertime weaknesses, so i desperately wanted to try the new concotion.
let me tell you, the little treat is worth its four points. if you have ever ordered a caramel macchiato at starbucks, you will probably enjoy it. while there is no real caramel in it, there is a nice helping of that sweet caramel syrup they squirt in. and i'm pretty sure there might be actual pieces of milky way in it, although that might have just been a faulty hot chocolate machine or something.
yummy!
netflix and ally mcbeal on dvd
with the writers' strike ruining my life and all good tv on hold, my nightly tv choices have been sorely depleted. i used to love reality tv, but that its the only new thing on tv, the novelty has run out. when i grow sick of repeats, i turn to netflix for solace. if you have netflix, you should really try to order a season or two of a television series. the dvds come to you one at a time, but they last you for awhile because there are typically several shows per disc.
and if you are a fan of discontinued shows, or missed the first few seasons of a show, netflix is a great way to catch up or reminisce.
this summer, i netflixed the whole series of arrested development and fell in love. i felt sorry for not watching the show when it was on a few years back. and i'm sad it was cancelled before its time.
in the past i have rented seasons of 24 and lost through netflix, and i will probably turn to that again if the strike continues.
but this week, i have been obsessed with ally mcbeal. there are not too many ally mcbeal episodes on dvd; unfortunately there is no season 1 ally mcbeal dvd box set. instead there is a two-disc collection of the best first season ally episodes. i watched four this week...and i loved them. i forgot how much i loved that show and why. i mean, i was only in middle school when that show was popular. now, all day at work my thoughts keep drifting back to ally and i can't wait to run home and watch my dvds.
oh god, television writers please come back to work. don't you see how much pain you are causing?
