and there's also this

today, i walked 6 miles in preparation for the two-day avon walk for breast cancer that i'll be doing in october. the walk is only eight weeks away, and i started to think about fundraising again.

last year, i decided to take on the challenge of walking 39.3 miles over two days and raising $1800 because i wanted to push myself physically, give back to the community and contribute to the war against breast cancer. like so many other people i know, breast cancer runs in my family. and although no one close to me has died from the disease -- although i have recently lost loved ones to pancreatic and colon cancer -- i want to keep it that way. i walk for awareness, prevention and a cure. i walk so that my mother, my aunts, my cousins, my friends, my daughters and my granddaughters will never have to worry about dying from breast cancer.

last year, i raised $1560 -- a mere $240 short of my goal -- before i injured my foot in august and stopped my fundraising efforts. all the money from last year has been transferred over, but i really would love to raise $1560 again this year, or at least $1000! that's where you come in. if you have a few bucks to spare, visit my donation page. if you can't give anything or want to give more, forward my link to anyone who you think might want to donate to the cause, and ask them to pass it along, too.

and i want to send out hearty thanks to all who contributed last year, and thank you in advance to anyone who gives a little this year, too.
