rip ?
i came home to stamford today to some sad news. one of my parents' cats, snickers, has been missing for several days. she is presumed dead, perhaps eaten by a coyote. yes, we have those in stamford, apparently.
naturally, the family is grief stricken, and i am particularly fearful of the well being of our other cat, baby, with a wild coyote out there stalking the neighborhood kitties. still, we are heading to north carolina tomorrow, and despite my pleas, we are not bringing baby with us. mostly because my grandmother is allergic. and cats do not enjoy 12-hour car trips.
so let this be my tribute to our big fat kitten snickers. she was not a particularly nice cat, but she liked being near the family at all times. she could always be found sleeping on one bed or another at all times of the day, and at night she would claw at closed bedroom doors to get inside and cuddle.
one time, my parents went for a walk in the woods behind our house to go see my brothers playing paintball. snickers followed them all the way from our backyard. they went very far, the cat following the whole time, several feet behind. eventually, my parents could tell that she was a little lost, so she let my dad pick her up, and he carried 20-pound fluff ball all the way.
who did she follow into the woods this time? was there an attack? did she get sick and go off alone? was baby with her? my family has searched the woods around our house and canvassed the neighborhood, and they have found no sign of snickers, the poor thing. she may still be alive, and she might be here to greet us when we get home next weekend. but...maybe not.
good bye snickers cat...i hope you are in kitty heaven.
