my first donation
last year, i raised money to take part in the avon walk for breast cancer, a 2-day, 39 mile walk (the distance of a marathon and a half). however, a foot injury in august sidelined me, preventing me from walking in the event in early october.
however, i am registered for this year's walk, all $1560 of my donations from last year have been rolled over to this year and i am ready to start training and raising money!
(by the way, if you want to donate to the cause, click here to visit my personal page)
i just set up my personal page last week, and i have yet to send it out to family and friends, mostly because i don't know if they will feel up to donate more money after i didn't even walk last year! however, i received my first donation today from a guy named james or rick ernst (his email address said james but he signed the note he sent me "rick" so who knows). i was touched that he wanted to donate to a complete stranger and the note he sent me was so sweet i wanted to share it here.
Hope to see you in New York! My daughter, Elizabeth Ernst, just moved to Brooklyn and works downtown. She is walking both New York and San Francisco. I'm going to be working crew (Route Cleanup) at both Walks as well. We are probably not related, but, it's always fun to see another Ernst around! Best wishes on your Walk this year. Rick Ernst
i'm just about to write him an email thanking him for his support, and maybe i'll try to set up a training walk with elizabeth in brooklyn. i can't believe she's waling 39 miles twice! that's dedication to the cause.
stay tuned for more walk updates! share with friends and donate to a good cause!
