another weekend almost over

so even though i have an apartment now, i spent this weekend in stamford. the reasons for this were numerous, but first and foremost i was summoned back to stamford to see my grandparents yesterday. i thought they would be here friday, which would allow me time to return to the city saturday, but that was a dirty dirty lie. anyway, they came bearing gifts (namely pots and pans for my apartment and a check destined to go towards my sharp warm & toasty) so i can forgive them.

friday night was my first experience at gingerman south, the nyc bar that my stamford friends are so fond of, most likely because there is a branch on greenwich ave which i have also been to on a few occassions. anyway, since gingerman is in midtown, and close to lots of offices there, it was packed when we arrived (fairly early) around 6. tables were first come first served and other patrons were snatching them up around us like vultures. after an hour or so, we spotted a low coffee table in the corner of the lounge area and sat around it on over sized armchairs. it was fun, but not a very relaxing environment. after a long week i prefer a quiet dinner and drinking experience. does that make me old?

after the bar, i caught a train back to stamford, and my mommy was nice enough to pick me up from the station. it was early, like 10:30, so if i wasn't so exhausted i could have met up with stamford friends, but i was in no mood. thursday night i slept at my apartment alone for the first time, and i must have slept restlessly because i woke up so tired!

yesterday i ran some errands...which included spending MORE money on apartment fixings. this time i bought curtains, a few more rugs and things like an iron and some things to hang (my non existenst) pictures on the walls. any ideas for wall decorations are greatly appreciated!

finally i traveled with my parents to bridgeport to watch will compete in the state marching band competition. we met my grandparents there, and then sat in the cold for a few hours. will was great, and the westhill band took second place in their division. yay will! i acted as videographer, so there is a tape of the performance complete with my running commentary. oh that should be fun to watch a few years from now.

today will is marching in the belated vetrans day parade, so i guess i will watch that before figuring out when and how i will head back to the city.
