and its allll mine

signed the lease today. paid the realtor 15% my annual rent or $1620. have now drained most of my savings...

here's some odd things about the lease signing:

they made my mom a co-signer instead of guarantor, even though i probably could have gotten the apartment on my own. so the apartment is half hers.

if i want to leave the apartment before my lease is up, i lose my security deposit and have to pay rent for every month that someone isn't living there...basically until they find a new tenant. so if i do have to leave before the year is up for some reason, look for my apartment posted on craig's list...

the lease will start november 15, but the management company said i could move in this week because it was their fault the signing was delayed (i think that's why they're letting me. its so odd). since i paid in full for the first month, they are going to pro-rate my rent and credit me half. so next month i will only owe half.

bad news is there is no fridge or stove/oven in the apartment. they will be coming new, but since the lease techinically starts on the 15th, there is no rush for them. so i may be living without those essentials for a few days. they said the appliances should be there by monday.

i picked up the keys and went to see the apartment again later today. it is a lot bigger than i remembered. the subway stop is really close and will run expresses from there during rush hour which is perfect. during other times of the day it will definitely take longer to get to manhattan.

i have movers scheduled for friday and am planning on taking the day off. will update you monday...
