...and this is why i love it

as i was impatiently waiting for my favorite scripted tv dramas and comedies to return to the air post-strike, a gem of a little-known show debuted two weeks ago. you may skip over the channel when you are scrolling through the guide, but trust me, greek is a good reason to stop at abc family on monday nights.

as i sit here watching episode #3 of its second season, i feel compelled to extoll the virtues of this smart, sharp-tongued, hip show. it reminds me of gilmore girls, the early years, only with less 80s' pop culture references and a less frenetic pace.

today, i was trying to convince my friend that it was a good show, and she should tivo it, but i couldn't quite put my finger on why. then i saw this review of the show on one of my new favorite entertainment blogs. it pretty succinctly sums up how i feel about greek. and once i showed it to my friend, she agreed, too.

in the most recent episode, there was some great pieces of dialogue that made me laugh out loud. for example:

rusty: (explaining how his frat brothers are excluding him) its like we're a boy band and i'm the fat one.
casey: its pronounced fatone.

and...

the southern baptist character to the gay character: i know i'm not gay, but that's what you gays do, you indoctrinate. if i don't stay vigilant, sooner or later i could end up with my own bravo tv show.

just trust me. tivo it and watch two or three episodes and see if you like it. its sassy but it has a heart. and pop culture references. what more can you want?
