happy new year!

as it is new years day, i think it is time to take a look forward at what lies ahead in 2007. it's not hard to be optimistic and excited on january 1, and i'm looking forward to new adventures, new travels and new stories in the new year. i have resolved to join a gym and actually go, so i'm sure you'll hear more about that in the coming days and weeks. if i stick to my resolution i will still be a gym rat this time next year.

beyond that, i would like to take this oppurtunity to do something i hardly ever do: quote song lyrics. i just love this song that i came across this past year. a lot of the time you hear people use the book metaphor to describe "a new chapter" in life, or new oppurtunities ahead as "blank pages." but this song, used as the theme song for a favorite mtv reality show this year, used that cheesy metaphor set to an uplifting back beat, so i liked it.

i would like to start the new year off with its heartwarming message and optimistic world view:
