sick is no excuse

first of all, let me apologize for the less than frequent posts of late. you see, i have been a little under the weather this week. well not so much under the weather as under an excruciatingly painful sinus headache that will not go away. the kind of headache that makes you see stars and makes it very difficult to deal with every day life, not to mention the trials and tribulations of city living.

i've taken just about every remedy i can think of and to date nothing has really helped. so after staring at a computer for eight hours every day, trying to tap out three stories that sound mildly educated, what makes me want to pop open my laptop and attempt to be witty and smart here?

well something big. ever run into someone you haven't seen in years? well it seems to be happening to me more and more. i've decided its a result of growing up around here and going to a college where half of us end up here, in the center of the media universe. so in effect, almost everyone i've ever known since i was born is quite possibly living or working within a 10-mile vicinity of manhattan.

this morning i ran into someone from elementary school. someone i haven't seen in at least 10 years. 10 years! and she picked me out. i totally don't look anything like i did when i was 14 (thank god) so way to go her!

but it got me thinking...just because knew someone way back when, and we're from the same home town, does not mean i have anything to say to her when i run into her! but who knows...this could be the beginning of a great friendship, or maybe i'll never speak to her again.

now its time to just deal with this headache.
