rethinking my next move
my roommate is on vacation this week. which gives me the place to myself, and a moment of calm and quiet to think.
i've been spending more time at my own apartment, which has had a number of positive results. first and foremost, the depth of my wardrobe is now, most of the time, fully accessible to me. secondly, i have had the oppurunity to spend time with my roommate and some of her friends. we've had some good times, and it has been very nice.
her friends have been surprised to see me. "you're home!" they almost shouted at me. i can't say i'm shocked by their incredulity that i actually live in the apartment, but i was also happy to show them that i do in fact exist.
that being said, i am (almost) enjoying my moments spent in this tiny first floor two bedroom. of course, it is still tiny, the living room and hallway is covered in dust and hair that my vacuum has all but given up on, there's not room to move in the bathroom and the kitchen is impossible. but it is cheap.
i have yet to broach the subject with the roomie, but i'm considering staying her another year. i did the math, and it just makes sense. if my roommate is willing to look at new apartments with me, i might move. or if i magically meet someone in the next four months who wants to move in with me, i'll think about it. but moving out on my own is just too much financially.
what's more, i know i've said it before: in the grand scheme, i don't like being alone. why would i voluntarily move in alone again? sure, having my own space is attractive, but sharing isn't that bad. as long as its with one other, preferably a girl. and we've been discussing getting a maid once a month to quell this dust problem we can't seem to conquer. that would solve some major issues.
but who knows. my mood has been known to shift, sometimes in an instant. and i'm still deciding if i'll be able to live one more year without a puppy pal.
