ugg day

friday was a momentous day. it was the first day all season that i wore my wonderful ugg boots.

i love my boots so much. they are warm and comfy and make me feel like i am walking around in slippers all day. my uggs are not the cheesy kind that britney spears and her ilk wear with miniskirts in la. no no, mine are sturdier, more boot-like around the bottom, and definitely less stylish.

but who cares? they are warm and comfy. and i would never wear them with a miniskirt. although i did wear them with leggings and a hoodie on saturday, but only to run out to get bagels and i didn't take my coat off the whole time. believe me, i do not wear these boots in the name of fashion.

since donning my uggs on friday, i can pretty much guarantee that i will wear them practically nonstop until spring. they are just that amazing. last year, i convinced my mom that she needed a pair. she also wears them nonstop october through april. if you let me drag you into a shoe store, i will make a believer out of you, too.

so with the emergence of my uggs marking the beginning of the winter season for me, it was only fitting that i come down with some bizarre sickness. i've been feeling very tired and run down for the past couple weeks, even staying home from work wednesdsay when my stomach felt icky on top of the tiredness.

but friday i woke up with swollen hands, a symptom that has indicated, in years past, that i have strep throat. its weird, i admit, but this has been happening to me since i was 14. i don't get a serious sore throat like most normal people with strep. i just live my life like normal until, poof!, one morning i wake up with swollen hands.

i was iffy about going to the doctor, since the trip always eats up a significant chunk of my work day time. but my mother finally convinced me, via email, that it was a good idea, given the swollen hands and all. before lunch i had already trekked to my doctor on 5th ave, and he wasted no time in giving me a prescription for antibiotics.

4 days into my antibiotic treatment, i am definitely feeling better. although i am still tired, but i can get out of bed in the morning without much problem. i'm kind of worried that this might be mono, since what else would explain the ridiculous sleepiness, but i am still having the usual problems falling asleep and staying asleep, so i can pretty much rule that out.

so right now i have given up on my diet and crazy gym regimen for a few days. i figure thanksgiving is right around the corner. there's no sense running myself ragged trying to get down to an acceptable weight when i'm just going to eat 10 pounds of stuffing in a week anyway.

have i mentioned thanksgiving is my favorite holiday? this is the time of year i start to get really giddy! woo hoo.
