let down

on tuesday i voted in the democratic primary in new york. it was the first time i had ever cast a ballot in an actual voting booth (having only voted once before in the 2004 presidential election through absentee ballot). although it was exciting to vote in my first primary and do my civic duty and all that, i have to say, the actual event of going to a public school and pulling a lever was a let down.

while it felt good to express my political opinions in a tangible way, i just expected more of a feeling of contribution or fulfillment. i'm not sure how they can accomplish that...maybe you should get some sort of receipt of voting.

it would say "you vote for NOMINEE has been recorded. thank you for voting come again on november 4." i mean, you get a receipt for everything else. something as important as voting should have more of a sense of completion and finality.

is that too much to ask?
