back in the city
i stepped out of a cab near my apartment last night and the bitter cold winds of new york city nearly blew me over. i was unprepared to leave the cool air of san francisco and return to winter in the northeast.
but oh boy was it fun while it lasted. below, some of the highlights...
first things first. i was there to visit my good friend erin, who, along with her fiance ben, were gracious hosts and patient tour guides.
erin and i started boozing almost as soon as i stepped off the plane. we really have an amazing time when the wine and conversation start flowing.
the next day, we worked. but we took time out to hit up haight ashbury for lunch.
after work, we double dated to celebrate valentine's day.
the next day, we worked from a very san fran coffee house, called coffee for the people. after work, we went to a neighborhood in san francisco called the marina and drank some rose (our new favorite) at an adorable san fran wine bar.
on saturday, we drove down to the embarcadero (sorry if i am butchering these neighborhood names) and had a lovely brunch at this cute little spot. then we drove around the city, visiting fisherman's wharf and ghiradelli square, where we drank more wine, and then getting pedicures near lorimore st.
afterwards, we went back to erin's apartment, drank more wine, and headed out to dinner and drinks in an chic restaurant in the lower haight.
on sunday, we drove around san francisco some more, stopping at ocean beach where i saw the pacific ocean. it was so cold there!
then we drove all the way over the golden gate bridge and into marin county. we drove all along the coast, and i saw the most amazing views of the city and the wildlife.
after driving around for several hours, we found our way back to fisherman's wharf where we snacked on sour dough, although i was super disappointed that the sour dough factory tour was closed for a private function. :(
on my last day, we ventured into chinatown for some adventures. it was so fun!
we had saved a trip to a champagne bar for my last night, and we were totally disappointed to find the place closed when we arrived! but we made the most of the night, settling in for a yummy italian dinner and then heading to a cozy bar for drinks.
all in all, a fantastic trip and an amazing vacation. i am so glad i finally got to see san francisco and visit my friends and just relax for a few days and sight see. i was so sad to return to real life.
