things i loved last week: super bowl edition

what i loved this week: the giants winning the super bowl.

i can't say i've ever been a big football fan. but there is something fun about getting swept up in the craziness of real fans. and to add that, the giants were a true underdog story. and loves me some underdogs.

to top that off, the game was so exciting, an edge of your seat, back and forth kind of game. and for the first time, maybe ever, i actually cared who won or lost, which made it much more exciting for me.

now, here's a little bit of a confession. for the four years i lived in boston, i experienced three patriots wins, including their first under belichick, and one heady red sox world series clincher. the first year the pats won was crazy, especially since i lived so close to kenmore square, a site rife with rioting during any exciting moment in the city. all night long we heard cars driving up and down commonwealth avenue honking and screaming and celebrating. but, despite the raucous celebration in the city, i didn't really care.

i actually got more into the red sox's world series win two and a half years later, and i have always considered myself more of a yankees fan.

but last night was almost as much fun. even though there was no running down the street to t's pub and there will most definitely be no sitting on someones' shoulders at the victory parade tomorrow.

its nice to celebrate a win for one of my home town teams. finally.

yay new york!
