poptart the cockroach killer
i just sprayed so much raid in my bedroom that i had to open a window. that's what happens when a super-sized cockroach strolls across my living room as i'm sitting down to dinner.
i hate hate hate roaches more than anything. the sight of them, even the thought of them, makes my skin crawl. they are disgusting, creepy, crawling and everywhere in this city and, so it seems, this apartment. i would say i am ready to get out, but there's really not many places i could go in brooklyn or manhattan that don't have a bug problem. and if it wasn't bugs, it'd be rats. i don't know what's worse.
oh wait. yes i do. cockroaches are definitely worse. ew.
tonight was the first time i had seen a live roach in this apartment, although one time my roommate and her friends saw TWO. IN. ONE. NIGHT. i came across a dead one once, the size of my thumb, all curled up and crispy in the corner of my room, and my heart almost beat out of my chest as i struggled to push it into a shoe box to transport it to its watery grave down my toilet bowl.
the one tonight was ultimately smaller than the last, but when i saw it walking around with its wings all out, it looked enormous. it brazenly walked into another room and out of sight. scared out of my skin, i went in search of the raid. no way was i going after this monster with a shoe or some other pounding device. death would have to come from afar.
not being able to see the thing, i sprayed around it, after it, on the floor, where i thought it was. i hoped it would die later...somewhere out of sight. i was not so lucky.
let me take a moment here to thank those people at raid. man, their products are really effective. and, this one had a pleasing country fresh scent. i sprayed it haphazardly around the floor, but later when the roach emerged, it looked in pain. its legs stopped working and it flipped on its back, struggling. i was happy, but still scared shitless. i continued to spray every corner and floorboard of my apartment, especially in my bedroom.
i would put a picture of the dead thing here, but i do not want its picture immortalized on film, even digital film. and i don't want to post its horrendous image on this website. i shudder just to think of the sight of it sitting six feet away from me, taunting me to throw him away. i'm not sure how i'm going to accomplish it...i have to build up to it i guess.
i can kill them...i just don't want to dispose of them afterwards. yuck.
