things i loved last week
i did not talk about things i loved during the first week of march, because mostly it was a difficult week for me, and then i was seriously ill on sunday, cast a pall across the whole of the week. but after spending this past week getting well, i also came across a few things i fell in love with.
covergirl lip gloss
i'm just going to come clean: i am a lip gloss addict. i walked into duane reade on tuesday for a soda and some magazines and walked out with this great new lip gloss (featured on america's next top model!) the gloss is pretty and shiny, and has a great flavor, which is important. it's also not sticky like other glosses, which is an extra bonus. i bought strawberry, but i think i'm going to go back and buy more! its my favorite lip gloss ever.
top chef!
on wednesday, the fourth season of my second favorite reality contestant show debuted. (in case you are wondering, project runway and so you think you can dance are tied for first favorites).
in the long months since hung took home the season three prize, i had forgotten how much i love this show. i had missed padma, with her inappropriately fancy dresses, judge tom and his shiny head, even the quick fire challenges. the contestants this season are suitably full of themselves, and also bring just the right amount of talent. i'm excited to see what they cook up.
one twist i'm not too pleased with: two contestants, zoi and jennifer, are a couple. i'm all for homosexuality, but my objection with this duo is the fact that the producers saw fit to include them both in this cast. this is not an environment that breeds love and affection. quite the opposite. yes, contestants that enter as strangers sometimes leave as good friends, but i can't imagine two people entering as significant others leaving without a rift between them. why would a couple subject themselves to that?
the funny thing is, jennifer, a faux-hauxed blonde that looks very similar to another contestant richard, has emerged as an early favorite in the game. i'm hoping she'll go far and we'll get to see a breakdown in her relationship when zoi is told to pack her knives and go. what? its that so horrible to say out loud? that's what the top chef producers wanted by setting up such a stunt. and i'm sure these women knew what they were getting into when they signed on. three seasons of top chef has aired, you can't say they didn't know what was coming their way!
that being said...how was anyone surprised when on the first day they were asked to do a quick fire challenge? and surprise! it was deep dish pizza, after the contestants met at pizzera uno in chicago. duh.
more on top chef later.
