project runway: the finale

it wasn't so long ago that project runway's fourth season started. early on in the season, i had the grand idea to live blog each episode. when that fancy fell apart, some time around the first episode, i tried just writing a summary of the show. but my interest in that also waned.

now, its march, and i haven't talked about project runway in so long! in the first week, i picked my favorites to win: remi, victorya, chris and christian. the final three includes two of my picks, and chris was in the final four, after surviving an early season auffing. (he returned when jack got a mrsa sore on his face and had to remove himself from the competition to get himself well. a good call, even though he was showing promise as a leading competitor.)

anyway, the final three are draping queen remi, ms. 80's jillian and fierce christian. i can't stand it...who is going to win the whole shabang tomorrow night???

honestly, my money is on christian, but jillian has been a tough competitor all season, especially showing promise near the end, after her twizzler dress. a man won last season, could it be time for a lady to pull one out?


two seasons ago, i was certain that chloe dao would win. i felt that season the judges always appreciated her work and rewarded the true winner of the season, even though her final collection was less than stellar. last season, jeffrey seemed like the dark horse, and i was shocked when he pulled out a win. he definitely won on the strength of his collection, which was edgy and well made.

this season, i am not sure whether the judges will reward the designer they enjoyed and praised all season (christian) or the one who could put together a surprisingly sophisticated and beautiful collection. what is the mark of a better designer? long term ability to design well under pressure or the ability to formulate an outstanding "collection" when given several weeks? honestly, i don't know the answer. i am not in the fashion industry. but here's hoping that fashion designer michael kors, managing editor of elle magazine nina garcia, heidi "the body" klum and posh spice know what they're doing. it all rests in their hands.

as for me: i'm split between christian and jillian. but if i had to venture a guess, i'd put my money on fan fave christian.
