things i loved last week

i'm sorry, but i just don't get out that much.

the hills

it's back baby! extra episodes of the quasi-reality show's third season (aka an uncommitted fourth season) started on monday with an hour long episode, featuring the show's star, lauren, dashing around paris with a married man/band member of the very originally named band rock & roll. word on the street (via page six) was that mtv placed the band there for lauren and her teen vogue buddy whitney to hang out with. stars of the show have already admitted that the producers make them reenact certain "important" scenes that the ever-present cameras may have missed. so they're not going to let a little thing like pimping out their starlets to french singers get in their way, right?

new fro yo in the slope

i had been hearing rumblings of a new pinkberry knock-off in park slope, and i was eager to check it out. although i'm not a big pinkberry fan, i do enjoy yogurt and i have kind of become a health freak so i wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

even though the place is no where near my apartment, and a good trek from matt's as well, on a pretty mild night last week we took a walk over there. the place was very brightly lit and smelly a little gross, but there was a very good selection of flavors ranging from plain to strawberry to peach. there was also a great selection of fresh fruit toppings and the nutritional information (20 cal an ounce) was prominently displayed. you can get up to four toppings for $1, but the yogurt itself is pretty pricey. two small yogurts, one with toppings, one without, ran about $10.

i got strawberry yogurt with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries on top, but after carrying the whole conconction home, the berries were frozen. i'm assuming they were fresh before sitting with freezing milk for 10 minutes. i also didn't see any chocolate sauce or hot fudge, which i guess is a good thing, since its supposed to be healthy. but i think chocolate would nicely complement the tangy yogurt, although it would totally defeat the purpose of eating yogurt altogether.

on saturday, we went to haagen daaz for a cheaper, sweeter treat. i'm so glad the winter is over and ice cream season is back!
