things i loved last week
easter weekend was a little rough for me, so it put a little damper on the week as a whole. looking back, i'm sure there were plenty of things for me to love, but only one comes to mind right now:
boots!
look at these new pretty boots that i just bought last week! i ordered them from zappos over the weekend and i was so worried that they wouldn't fit my fat calves. (you may recall i gave up on finding a pair that would fit over my calves and jeans) but when they arrived, they fit my calves, and i can fit jeans in them!
i've been looking for brown boot with a heel for about a month now, and what drew me to this pair was the chunky heel and the metal detailing. for some reason it looked equal parts trendy and classic to me. i just like metal things i think, and i'm starting to get into gold, in clothing and accessories. (will i be dumping my silver/white gold soon? not sure yet)
i wore the boots tucked into jeans on friday to work. i was worried about walking all over nyc with the hefty 3"+ heel, but the thickness of the heel made them actually not that uncomfortable. that was until i walked several blocks from times square to grand central and i booked it all the way there because it was 11 p.m. and kind of scary out for a little girl all alone. (i was ill-advised, meaning, i thought to myself that it was easier to walk than take a cab. please don't tell my mother.)
anyway, by the time i made it home (to stamford) on friday night, my piggies were aching and i literally had blisters on the soles of my feet. girls, don't you just love wearing heels! but, since they were the only pair of shoes i had (stupidly) brought home with me, i had to wear them again on sunday to church and monday back to work again. on saturday i wore my workout sneakers all day. who cares about fashion when your feet are about to fall off?
with the additional of a cushioning gel pad, the boots were actually not too uncomfortable on monday, and i am looking forward to wearing them again.
long story short: even in the grayest of times, shoes will always make my day. or week.
