this weekend's wedding

so earlier this weekend, on saturday, i attended a wedding. the weather was beautiful and everyone was in an upbeat, celebratory mood.

the wedding started in a ukranian orthodox church in brooklyn. i've never been to an eastern orthodox wedding, so i didn't know what to expect. the service was long, with lots of singing from a small chorus, and mostly in ukranian. we also had to stand throughout the entire thing.

after the ceremony, we boarded a double decker sightseeing bus for a guided trip from brooklyn to manhattan.

the bus said "just married" on the side, so that people wouldn't think we were all tourists

we arrived at chelsea piers and had a little snack and a drink. then we boarded a boat for the celebration. the views of the empire state building with the moon overhead, the manhattan skyline, brooklyn, and the statue of liberty were intense. my camera cannot do them justice.

what an amazing night!!
