summertime

tomorrow is the summer solstice: the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. it makes me want to do some pagan ritual, like put on a long white dress, let my hair down, and wander into the woods to dance under the full moon with sticks. or something like that.

instead, i'll tell you about my long weekend. sadly, this is probably the only trip to the beach i'll make all summer. i enjoyed myself and did it up. got too much sun. ate too much fried food.

unfortunately, my traveling companion also did too much of something, too. fortunately for you, i took a picture of it. in fact, its the only picture of him from the whole weekend that he will probably approve of me publishing.



yes, he's on the phone! and ironically, i took this picture to get him to notice that he was on the phone all weekend. his response: "that's a pretty good picture."

but my work as a girlfriend is done, because the birthday boy had a good birthday weekend. and that is all that matters. we grilled out at my parents house, laid out by the pool, took a dip in the spa, and then spent the next few days parked on the beach. he got lots of shrimp and i even made him a cake, per his request.
