autopilot

today i am on autopilot. i slept fitfully last night, for several reasons, the first and most important of which is that it is so hot and humid outside that it is almost unbearable inside, even with air conditioners and fans blowing directly on you.
i also am not a huge fan of being in the direct line of fire of a fan or a/c, and i went to bed with wet hair, so that probably made things worse.
so, long story short, i am not in the right mind today. fortunately for me, i can do my job on autopilot. so, either i'm that good or the job is really that easy/boring. i think the answer falls somewhere in between.
so back to talking about autopilot. for two days in a row i have turned on the tv to watch the weather in the morning and found myself daydreaming through the five day forecast. on tuesday, i had to consult my computer for the day's temperature outlook, and today i had to rewind the news a bit (oh the joys of dvr).
later, after drifting in and out of consciousness during what felt like the longest subway ride ever (i think i read some movie reviews or something) i ran into a coworker in the hall. i think the exchange was pleasant and short, but i think all i could manage was "good morning" "good, you?" and "good."
but i can't tell for sure because i wasn't all there. i'm too tired and my mind has wandered away. lack of sleep and this heat are a deadly combination. i need nap, or a night of rest, and i can't wait for the rain to come.
plus, sleeping while its raining is sooo relaxing.
