whining in the heat

it is HOT. but i've suffered through the heat in the living room, with no a/c, for the past hour. because my bedroom has air conditioning but no cable.

tonight i discovered another show that i love but its on cable, so i had to suffer through. it's called the world series of pop culture, season 2. sounds like something i'd like right?

this is how the show works. teams of 3 showed up to be tested by entertainment weekly (my regular pop culture fix) and vh1. the top 15 scoring teams, and last season's winner, are placed in a march madness-like bracket. two teams go head to head at a time, with one player chosen (by the team) to answer questions each round. each match has five rounds.

the host will ask six questions to alternating teams. if a contestant misses a question, his competitor can "steal" it from him. the player who wins the round stays on stage, the other is eliminated. the first team that losses all 3 players losses the round and is eliminated from the tournament. if the players tie, there is a sudden death bonus round, where the host will ask a question with multiple answers and the player who runs out of answers first is finished.

tonight, there were a lot of bonus rounds, with questions like name feature films that steven spielberg directed, name all the characters on lost, the actors who were members of the fellowship in the lord of the rings movies, the movies that have been nominated for the best animated feature film oscar. all stuff i know!

after watching an hour of pop culture questions, which last season i thought were pretty difficult, i found there are some areas of pop culture that i need to brush up on. scary movies, for example. and i'm also lacking in quentin tarantino knowledge. however, i rock at jingles.

i just like game shows. so fun.
