quick recap

so i know its been a couple days since i last wrote, and i am really sorry! i was getting so good at doing this regularly. but, a lot has happened since i last wrote, so let me recap.

so i signed my lease on saturday, but i was still freaked out about it possibly being a scam. i met carly (and her sister) at the realtor's office at 11. he called around 11:30 to let us know he would be another 30-45 minutes, so i brought the girls to la bagel delight, and we walked around park slope a little. george the realtor ended up showing up around 12:30. after all that wait, he then called the owner of our building to discuss the rent. eventually he decided its going to be $1475.

then we signed the lease and wrote out checks. this was the part i was nervous about. so some weird stuff went down. first, we owed him 3 things: first month rent, security deposit and realtor's fee. i was going to do a check for security deposit and half the realtor fee, and carly was going to do the first month's rent and her half of the realtor fee. then she only had one check. and i couldn't cover her part of anything. so i wrote the security deposit, and she wrote the first month's rent with her only check, and then i wrote HER a check for half of the realtor's fee which she was going to deposit and then write george a check to give him on tuesday when she was coming back to brooklyn for a job interview at starbucks. phew! if you're confused, don't worry, it gets worse.

so i'm writing my check for security deposit and i write it out to "gem properties" george told me that was wrong and i should write it out to "gem property, llc" so i wrote out a new check. then i took back the first check and, although i planned to rip it up, i just wrote "void" on the back. then i wrote carly's check for half the realtor fee. then i went back to rip up the first bad check...and it was gone! like seriously it had disappeared. i looked all over george's cluttered desk and office and it was no where to be found. so even though i wrote "void" on it, i still paid the $20 to stop payment. just in case. you never know...

so after that debacle, i went back to stamford, where we celebrated joe's last weekend in stamford (he moved into his apartment in chicago today!)

sunday i worked that promotion for helio that i talked about before. i was easy money. but i was so tired all night, and could hardly stay awake. at one point i got so lightheaded i had to go get some air and sit down. i think i was dehydrated. if i do it again (which i might) i'm going to have to remember to drink water all night.

monday was basically a wash because i was so tired all day long. but i did go to my apartment and pack up my kitchen. there is something so satisfying about fitting everything in my life perfectly into boxes. is that weird?

yesterday i had a very interesting day, which i will blog about at length at a later date. carly came into manhattan after her starbucks meeting in brooklyn and we had lunch. it was fun. after work i went to stamford to stay with will while my parents are in chicago. so i have yet to really catch up on sleep!

oh well, there's always tonight.
