another day, another dollar

i had another one of those days where i do nothing all day long. i've been remiss about blogging again recently, but now i realize i need to keep up with it. if for no other reason than to give me some way to spend my days! seriously.

well i have lots of news.

living:

first of all, i'm still on the hunt for an apartment. i hope to know where i'm going to live very very soon. the bad news is that lauren found a studio that she loves in park slope, so i'm back trolling craig's list for shares. more power to lauren for her good luck and the fact that she's able to afford it. i'm so happy for her, and hope to be her neighbor very soon.

i've met my fair share of people and seen many apartments during the last few weeks. i'm happy to say that i finally know what i'm looking for, so if this doesn't work out, for whatever reason, i will be much more selective moving forward. i'm waiting to hear back from 3 apartments, but i have a feeling the current tenants won't call me to let me know they've gone another way. this is rude. i saw one of the places i was considering reposted today. without so much as a phone call or email saying "it was great to meet you but i don't think i'd like to live with you so i'm going to repost." rude. rude. rude.

travel:

i'm going away to vermont to visit my cousin august 25-27. so excited!! i'm flying up on a little plane from laguardia to burlington's tiny airport, and the flight is only an hour and a half. i think it will take me as long to get to the airport than to fly to vermont!

after that is labor day. still not definite on plans yet, but maybe i'll just enjoy a long weekend in my new apartment and neighborhood. yeah right. no matter how nice it is and how much i'll need to unpack, i'll hear the call of the pool or beach i'm sure.

then it will be september. i'm shocked the fall has come so soon. it will all be ok: the hot weather, i'm sure, will endure well into october. and september means rich list will be done soon and i get my baby all to myself again! and then our vacation will come up so soon. only 2 months until we set sail!

work:

what else has been going on? oh yes, i have still been applying to jobs. i'm up to over 30 resumes sent out by now. and i finally got an interview, which is nice. i have that this friday.

also, i was given an assignment by the tech editor here kind of as a fluke thing. he gave me a helio phone to try out. since myspace is a big part of helio's thing, i set up an account. so i'm on there now. check me out. it's a silly profile and i have 4 friends, but no biggie right? request me as your friend so you can read my profile.

other:

just bought tickets for a yankees game next week. they're playing the orioles.

also, my parents have been out of town this week. i watched the house and cats this weekend, and lauren came to stay. we had good times in stamford, but i'm in no rush to head out to the bars there again. too many ghosts. matt and i spent the night at my parent's last night. its fun to go night swimming and act grown up like its my house and all that, but its not fun to wake up at 6:30 and commute into the city. i'm exhausted today, and the lack of stimulating work is not helping. i need a nap!

the oppressive heat wave in new york city finally broke, so its back to normal, if a little cool out. i don't expect the temp will keep steady though. it will get hot again very very soon. that's my prediction!
