holy crap

i cannot believe what happened today. it was an unbelieveable day. first, i decided to chat with my boss about my job offer. i thought i could use the offer as leverage to maybe get more money or editorial responsibility here. after complaining about the interns and how they get more responsibility than me, he basically told me it wasn't going to get any better and this was it. so...i decided to take the job.

then lauren (another ea here) had an extra ticket to the badgley mischka show so i went with her. super fun and we star gazed. saw jc chasez, attoosa rubenstein and lots of people we recognized but couldn't place.

when i got back, i had an email from the page six editor. it said "never got a response. call me." i called and emailed and generally freaked out. he asked me to meet him for an interview monday.

now things seem to be moving awfully fast with page six. i'm totally torn. do i take the marketing job with the intent to back out if i get a better offer? matt said i should. mom said i should tell them i'm trying for a different job and need another week to thing (risky). my boss thinks i should try to push meeting with page six up, push decision making/start time for marketing job back.

i called richard johnson. he picked up (!) i asked if we could meet tomorrow. he said ok. i was shocked. he said col allan (post eic) would also be there. i am now shitting my pants. he says bring clips. fab. must make color copies of forbes stories and brush up on my brilliant, engaging, and witty celeb list stories. eek! i don't rememeber any of those stories. think. think. ryan seacrest...simon cowell...paris...ow...nicole....

now here's the problem with the marketing job. it looks dull in comparison to this possible page six dream job. i know my chances of getting page six are slim. but i can't in good conscience accept a job i am loath to take...i tried twice to pick up the phone and dial the guy at the marketing place, but i just couldn't do it. maybe i'll know more after my interview tomorrow and i'll be able to give him a straight answer. i feel awful because we've played it straight with each other up until this point and now i'm being cagey. i just don't know what to do.

Amanda, that is fantastic!!!! I think your Forbes editor had just the idea: move up Page Six (which you have), and see if you can push the marketing decision back.

Man, I really hope you get Page Six!!!! You totally deserve it.
