the move

well, its done. pics tk.

my dad called me yesterday at 11 a.m. i felt like i had just gotten to work (i had gotten a late start---rolled in around 10). he said, "we're on our way." i, of course, was caught way off guard. i thought we would move in the evening, after work, so i wouldn't have to be mia from my desk again. my dad was insistent, but i whittled him down to 2 p.m. i planned to leave work then.

i hopped on the F at 14th street at 2 p.m. and got to my apartment around 2:40. not bad time for a local train. my dad rolled up in front of the new pad around 3 p.m. it took him, rocco and freddy (with my and carly's help, of course) a little over an hour to unload the truck. the couch fits perfectly. i think this apartment has very good feng shui.

just around the time that my dad started to hang the curtain rods in the living room, we realized that the shelves in the kitchen were crap and we would rather have the shelving unit we bought from the container store. it fit perfectly, of course, so my dad set to work installing that, too. at this point, freddy wanted to go home, so i offered my car. it was parked by matt's so i walked up there (about 15 minute walk) and then realized i had all this crap still at matt's that i needed my car to move. it took me about 10 minutes to load up the car, then i drove back to the new place. exhausted and sweaty, i unloaded my car, and then started organizing my room while dad and rocco installed the new shelves, took down the old ones, and secured my window with the a/c so no one could come in a rape me/steal my stuff.

eventually i unpacked as much as i could, and i think i want to rearrange my furniture, but i'll get it all figured out this afternoon.

more on my apartment later this weekend, when i've had a chance to digest it.
